More progress

Started tearing the engine down today, I have to say an impact driver is the best tool ever invented.  Some of those screws were a major pain though, had to cut some so they were straight edged.

This was probably before the fucking thing fell off the table and into an oil drain pan I had on the floor, thank god.  It grazed my arm and something hit me in the face but I got really lucky.  Twas a bitch to get back up on the table myself too!

This is as far down as I got today, had to cut the chain that wraps around the cam (timing chain? I dunno this shit) to get the head off, luckily I dont need it and I managed to spare the gear.

Holy scum! Yea its as bad as I feared it would be.

Toast!  I was hoping to be able to salvage the pistons but it doesnt look like it.  I think Im done with this engine now too, I figured out how it goes together, I have some good hardware to build the better engine, and I learned how to make it fall off the table like a dumbass, good day!

The engine Im going to use is  actually from a CJ360, and its kickstart only which makes me happy.  This is probably it for engine stuff for a while, at least until i get some cash together.  Im going to start cleaning up the frame next, deciding on a tank, mounting the fender etc.  Stay tuned...

  1. A little soaking in kerosene will clean that baby right up.

  2. Tearing stuff apart without knowing what your doing always helps you figure out how it works
